What are industrial structures?

Industrial structures are the heavy welded steel frameworks that support equipment and operations — machine bases, support frames, platforms, mezzanines, and structural weldments. They have to carry load, hold tolerance, and last.

SPF engineers and builds custom industrial structures in-house — heavy weldments and frames and platforms and mezzanines — with press-brake forming to 230 tons and FANUC robotic welding, built to your print and finished on site.

Our structural steel fabrication covers the full framework — beams, columns, base plates, and embeds cut, formed, and welded to your shop drawings for industrial and commercial projects. We also fabricate the miscellaneous metals that tie a structure together: bollards, grating, canopies, ladders, and custom brackets, all built to print.

Beams and columns are detailed to AISC practice and welded by AWS-certified welders across 30+ MIG stations and FANUC robotic cells. Heavy plate is formed on our 230-ton press brake and cut on a large-format TRUMPF fiber laser, so members arrive square, straight, and ready to erect.

Access & Egress

Platforms, stairs & handrails.

We build the access steel that keeps operations safe and code-ready — structural platforms, mezzanines, catwalks, crossover stairs, ladders, handrails, and guardrails engineered to your access and load requirements.

Stairs and railings are fabricated alongside the heavy weldments and frames they mount to, so stringers, treads, and rails land on the same print with consistent welds and finishes.

Detailing to Delivery

Structural steel fabrication starts on the screen: our in-house team turns your prints into shop drawings and detailing in SolidWorks, then routes members through cutting, forming, welding, and finishing under one roof as part of our custom manufacturing program.

Critical features are verified on a CMM to a ±0.005" tolerance, structures are finished in our large powder ovens, and completed assemblies ship ready to erect. ISO 9001 and CAGE 2W654 back every job from our 100,000 sq ft plant, established 1982.
