first article inspection & quality.

A certified quality system built for OEM and defense work — ISO 9001, CAGE 2W654, and CMM inspection, with the documentation and traceability your programs demand.

Quality

What is CMM inspection?

A coordinate measuring machine (CMM) verifies that a finished part matches its print by precisely measuring its geometry in three dimensions. CMM inspection is the backbone of a documented, repeatable quality system.

SPF runs an ISO 9001 quality system with CAGE 2W654 registration and CMM inspection — the documentation and traceability that OEM and defense programs require.

That quality pedigree is why aerospace and defense and automotive-quality customers trust us with build-to-print work.

Quality

iso 9001 quality system.

Every job runs through a certified ISO 9001 quality management system — the same framework whether we are cutting, forming, welding, or finishing. That means controlled processes, documented inspection, and repeatable results across our 100,000 sq ft plant.

In-process inspection catches variation before it reaches your dock, and material certifications and a certificate of conformance can travel with the order when your program requires them. It is the documentation and traceability that OEM and defense buyers expect from a supplier of record.

Quality is one thread of a single-source shop — see the full range of custom manufacturing we run under one roof.

Government & Defense

cage 2w654 — government & defense.

Southern Perfection is registered under CAGE 2W654, the code that lets us support defense and government-funded programs directly. Family-owned and established in 1982, we bring four decades of build-to-print discipline to regulated work.

Combined with our ISO 9001 quality system, that registration underpins the traceability, material certifications, and certificates of conformance defense programs demand. It is why aerospace and defense customers route sensitive fabrication to us.

Inspection

first-article, cmm & dimensional inspection.

First-article inspection (FAI) verifies that a new part matches the print before a production run begins. We capture a full dimensional record on our CMM — holding tolerances to ±0.005" — so every critical feature and GD&T callout is confirmed against your drawing.

From there, CMM inspection and dimensional inspection continue through the run, backed by in-process inspection under our ISO 9001 system. Finished parts can ship with dimensional reports, material certifications, a certificate of conformance, and full traceability.

FAQ

Quality & inspection — answered.

What is CMM inspection used for?

A CMM measures a finished part in three dimensions to confirm it matches the print, producing the inspection data and traceability regulated programs require.

Are you ISO 9001 certified?

Yes. We operate a certified ISO 9001 quality management system.

Do you have a CAGE code for defense work?

Yes — CAGE 2W654, registered to support defense and government-funded programs.

Do you perform first article inspection (FAI)?

Yes. We perform first-article inspection using CMM and dimensional inspection to verify a new part matches the print before production runs, capturing GD&T features and a full dimensional record.

What documentation comes with an inspected part?

Depending on program requirements we can supply dimensional inspection reports, material certifications, a certificate of conformance and traceability records, backed by in-process inspection under our ISO 9001 quality system.
