The challenge

A durable finish, at transit volume.

A transit bus manufacturer came to us with a demanding brief: coat a large run of passenger seats to a finish tough enough for daily transit service — resistant to the constant wear, cleaning and contact that public transportation puts a surface through — and do it at a volume most finishing shops can't absorb without bottlenecking.

The job called for two things at once: consistent, high-quality coverage across every seat, and the physical capacity to move a large batch through surface prep, coating and cure without slowing the manufacturer's build schedule.

What we did

In-house prep, coating & cure.

We ran the seats through our in-house powder coating and finishing line end to end. Every part started with proper surface preparation — sandblasting and cleaning to give the coating a sound, contaminant-free surface to bond to — then moved to powder application and oven cure for a hard, uniform, transit-grade finish.

Volume was the differentiator. With some of the largest powder-coat ovens in the Southeast, we could batch and cure seats at scale rather than in a slow trickle, keeping throughput high while holding finish quality consistent from the first seat to the last. Powder coat and wet paint both run in the same building, so finishing stays coordinated with the rest of the work.
